NN/LM PNR is currently accepting applications for Community Preparedness Day Awards. The purpose of the Community Preparedness Day Award is to assist libraries in becoming active partners in the community’s emergency preparedness, response and recovery planning activities. Participation in Community Preparedness Day projects will help make libraries part of a the nationwide effort to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and schools. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, through its “Ready America” campaign, highlights the importance of emergency preparedness and promotes individual involvement through events and activities across the country.
The goals of Community Preparedness Day are to:
Projects must be completed by April 30, 2011. Three (3) awards of up to $5,000 each will be funded. September is National Preparedness Month, so project participants may want to consider planning their project activities to coincide with other National Preparedness Month events.
