Summer is here and vacations are in the planning. Whether traveling solo, with family, friends or even with work colleagues, it is good to include how to stay healthy in your planning. Here are some resources to offer:

Don’t forget to take me along!

MedlinePlus Traveler’s Health: This health topic page on MedlinePlus is a good starting point. What’s nice about MedlinePlus is that it includes demographic information for children, women, and older adults. It also includes links to specifics like swelling feet, motion sickness as well as to related topics about cruise ships and immunocompromised travelers.

CDC Traveler’s Health: The CDC is a great resource with lots of information for travelers such as vaccine requirements, global travel, and travel notices. There’s even a tool where you can select the country you’re going to for country specific information.

Your state department of health may also have additional information to offer your patrons and community. Being prepared can help make traveling not just safer but more enjoyable.

Oh, and if you’re taking Whiskers with you, check out these links to keep her healthy too while traveling.

From the CDC:

American Red Cross, Pet Travel Safety

The Humane Society, Travel Safely with Your Pet
