October is not only Health Literacy Month it is also National Medical Librarians Month.
Do you consider yourself a medical librarian? Do you find yourself providing health information to your patrons, patients, clients, students, or the public? If part of your job is to provide health information, you are part of the medical library and information community. It doesn’t even have to be the primary focus of your work.
When providing health information to the public you are helping to increase access to health information and thus helping to improve the health literacy of those you serve. This is no small feat, and you should be proud of your work.
Let’s celebrate both Health Literacy Month and National Medical Librarians Month and below are links to two kits with graphics, messages, and more to bring awareness and appreciation for all medical librarians and information providers and the work they do to improve the health literacy of their communities.
