Consumer Health Minute: National Nutrition Month®

Posted by on March 4th, 2024 Posted in: Consumer Health

This year’s theme, for National Nutrition Month® is “Beyond the Table” and it covers several important aspects of nutrition such as food production, navigating the farmer’s market and grocery store, how to decrease food waste and more.

Since 1973, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has been a leader in providing nutrition information when it began National Nutrition Week and then expanded to National Nutrition Month® in 1980.

The Academy provides a social media toolkit, downloadable information in multiple languages, and ideas to get involved.

In addition, MedlinePlus provides links to several vetted resources to information about food and nutrition and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has several tools and resources on their website, MyPlate.gov, to highlight to your community.

You may not have kept up with your New Year’s resolutions, but spring can be a time for renewal of new goals. Addressing healthy eating as spring vegetables become available and gardening starts may be just what your patrons want!
