Consumer Health Minute: Updated Collection Management Class

Is your library or organization seeking guidance to start a consumer health collection or wanting to build on an already existing collection? You may find that what would seem straightforward about a consumer health collection is not always so straightforward. Like any health information, there’s a lot out there but discerning what is good research-based information isn’t always easy. Most likely your budget isn’t limitless either. NNLM has a couple of resources to help you.

We recently updated a class focusing specifically on this topic. Register for Consumer Health Collection Management, an on-demand class eligible for 4 Medical Library Association CE credits and meeting four of the CHIS (Consumer Health Information Specialization) core competencies. Go ahead and register and then you can “attend” the class when it fits in your schedule.

Additionally, we have a section on Consumer Health Collection Management in our Resources for Public Libraries Guide with links to resource lists and reviewed websites.

Being equipped with these tools will aid you in establishing and maintaining a quality consumer health collection for you and those you serve.
