Inclusive Design 24 – A Free 24-Hour Online Community Event on Accessibility

Posted by on June 5th, 2017 Posted in: Accessibility, Technology, Training & Education

Hi everyone! I’m the Program Coordinator at NNLM PNR, and as such share in the responsibility of keeping our web content accessible. People are becoming more aware of the importance of making digital media and online content accessible to everyone, and events like the recent “Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)” are helping educate those responsible for creating and curating said content. If you missed GAAD, there is another free event coming up at the end of this week: Inclusive Design 24.

From their website: “Inclusive Design 24 celebrates efforts worldwide to ensure people with disabilities have full and equal access to the web. To this end, we will be holding 24 completely free one-hour webinars on all things accessibility. The sessions range from beginner to advanced and are aimed at everyone from executives to web developers.”

Inclusive Design 24 starts on Thursday, June 8th at 5pm Pacific Time. There is no registration: Simply go to their website and follow links to the videos. If you catch them live you can interact in real time with the presenters by tweeting @paciellogroup and using the #1D24 hashtag. I know I’ll be watching “Accessible Comics!!!” by Cordelia McGee-Tubb and “Democratising Knowledge” by Nidhi Arora. I hope you’ll join me, or browse the selection of videos and choose something that intrigues you personally!
