Hug A Public Health Worker This Week

Posted by on April 4th, 2005 Posted in: News from NLM

April 4-10 is National Public Health Week this year. The theme is “Empowering Americans to Live Stronger, Longer!” It is a campaign to identify and reduce the barriers that keep older Americans from getting the health care and information they need. The National Library of Medicine is a National Partner in the effort. Take this opportunity to let your local public health department know you can help them get credible health information to older people in your community.

You might also think about getting funding from the RML to do a project with public health workers in your community around the theme of health information for older Americans. As always, if you’d like to discuss working with the public health workforce, contact us at the RML.

The American Public Health Association Web site has a section devoted to the activities going on for National Public Health Week around the country and materials to use for campaigns. Click your state on the map for local information.
