The following message is being shared on behalf of the NNLM Reading Club.
We are seeking members for our newly formed NNLM Reading Club Advisory Group.
Are you familiar with the NNLM Reading Club? Have you used our resources for your own book discussion or shared our resources with others?
If so, then you are probably aware that each month, we share book titles on a health topic, along with curated health information, discussion guides, and marketing materials. Would you like to contribute to this project by sharing your ideas? If so, please complete this form to share your interest by May 31, 2024.
The NNLM Reading Club serves as an online resource providing monthly priority topical book recommendations, corresponding NLM and NIH health resources, and materials needed to host an in-person or virtual book club discussion. Our goal is to support health literacy outreach and engagement with an emphasis on reaching diverse communities.
Role of the NNLM Reading Club Advisor
The NNLM Reading Club Advisor offers external guidance and support to the NNLM Reading Club including, but not limited to,
Eligibility
Any person affiliated with an NNLM member organization is welcome to apply.
Composition
The NNLM Reading Club Advisor group will consist of up to 8 members representing various NNLM regions. We seek a minimum of one advisor from each of the seven NNLM regions. Member selection is aimed at library professionals from public, state, academic, hospital, medical, research, special or health sciences libraries and staff working with community-based organizations or public health who support health information access. In addition, group composition aims to reflect multiple roles and communities.
Expectations of NNLM Reading Club Advisor
Contribute up to 3 hours of service quarterly, which includes attending a regularly scheduled 1-hour virtual meeting.
Terms
Advisory group members are asked to serve a one-year appointment coinciding with the NNLM 2021-2026 annual performance period of May 1 – April 30.
Resignation and Termination
Time is voluntary. Any member may resign by notifying the NNLM Reading Club at any time.
Recognition
An NNLM Reading Club Advisor will receive a certificate from the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) in recognition of their service.
