Shifting Skills: MLA webcast locations in the Pacific Northwest Region

Posted by on April 6th, 2011 Posted in: Training & Education

Join your colleagues on Wednesday, April 20th from 11am-12:30pm (Pacific time) for the Medical Library Association (MLA) webcast Shifting Skills to Navigate the Changing Horizon: Finding Our Way in New Biomedical Research and Health Care Environments.  The goal of this webcast is to introduce information professionals to some of the emerging trends in biomedical research and health care environments that present new opportunities for partnership, collaboration, and support. Translational science, e-science, and electronic health records are characterized by large amounts of information and data. These offer new and expanded roles for information professionals in data management, curation, sharing and integration; new models for scholarly publication; new ways to collaborate with Clinical and Translational Science Award centers and their constituents; and new opportunities to educate health and information technology professionals in the meaningful use of health information via electronic health record systems.

The Pacific Northwest Region (PNR) will host the webcast at the University of Washington Health Sciences Library, Lab A.  If you will join us here in Seattle for the webcast at UW please register at http://tinyurl.com/PNRWebcastReg.

PNR is also pleased to announce funding for 4 other locations to host the webcast in the Pacific Northwest Region.

In Spokane, WA the webcast will be presented at the WSU Riverpoint Campus, SAC 311 and hosted by the Inland NorthWest Health Sciences Libraries group (INWHSL). Please register at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/JLKMKWW and bring your lunch if you like. INWHSL members please plan to stay for a business meeting from 12:30-1:30 PM

In Yakima, WA the webcast will be presented at the Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences, Butler-Haney Hall, Room 158. For more information, or to confirm your space, please contact mgiovanini@pnwu.org.
They will have informal discussion time before and after the webcast and feel free to bring a sack lunch.  Coffee, tea and light snacks will be provided.

In Montana, the webcast will be presented at the Billings Clinic Cancer Center, Radiation Oncology conference room #1. Please contact vbauerkoch@billingsclinic.org for more information or to register.

In Oregon, the webcast will be presented at the Portland State University Library and hosted by the Oregon Health Sciences Libraries Association (OHSLA). OHSLA will provide box lunches to all OHSLA members. Please contact judkinsd@ohsu.edu for more information or to register.

We look forward to seeing you there!
