Membership is an important part of the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Region 5 program. Membership allows your institution to apply for funding offered by NNLM Region 5, and creates connections between your organization, the Region 5 Office, and other members. Membership is what makes the NNLM a network.
If your organization is not an NNLM member, here’s what you need to know:
Membership is organizational or institutional.
Organizations who are interested in improving equitable access to health information may become members. Any organization is welcome to join the NNLM. Members include libraries of all types, community-based organizations, health clinics or other healthcare organizations, academic institutions, professional associations, faith-based institutions, and more.
Membership is free and allows your organization to apply for funding.
There are no costs associated with membership in the NNLM. The majority of NNLM members are eligible to apply for funding. The NNLM Region 5 provides funding for projects, programs, and professional development to improve access to health information in the region. Members are notified when funding opportunities are available.
Membership connects your organization to others who share an interest in improving access to health information.
Membership shows your organization’s support for the NNLM program and mission.
All NNLM members are listed in the Members Directory on the NNLM.gov website. The directory provides contact information for member organizations, including a liaison contact, who is the NNLM’s main point of contact at the organization. This helps Region 5 staff to stay in contact with member organizations and connect Network members with each other. Try searching the Members Directory by your location. Who in your area is an NNLM member? How might you work with them to improve access to health information?
Become an NNLM Member today!
To become an NNLM member, login to NNLM.gov with your username and password. If you do not have a username and password, create one (see Consumer Health Minute: Creating an NNLM User Account for support).
After logging in to NNLM.gov with your username, apply to become a member. The application form will automatically list you as the liaison contact for your organization’s membership. Fill out the form with your organization’s contact information and submit the form.
The Region 5 Office receives an email when your membership application form is submitted. We’ll follow up with you over email to welcome your organization to the NNLM Region 5.
Do you have questions about membership? Contact the Region 5 Office (nnlm@uw.edu). We’re here to help!
