This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/news\/member-news\/2017\/10\/public-library-association-national-network-libraries-medicine-announce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">new nationwide initiative<\/a> will assess the health information needs of public libraries and provide opportunities for public library staff to increase their knowledge and confidence regarding consumer health services and programming.<\/p>\n<p>One such professional development opportunity is a 1 day pre-conference at PLA 2018. <em>Stand Up for Health: Health &amp; Wellness Services for Your Community<\/em> is Tuesday March 20, 2018 from 9:00am &#8211; 5:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>PLA is offering a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ala.org\/news\/member-news\/2017\/10\/stipends-available-public-library-health-workshop-national-network-libraries\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">limited number of stipends<\/a> worth $500 to cover registration and some travel costs for this pre-conference session.
