{"id":18241,"date":"2019-12-17T20:02:32","date_gmt":"2019-12-17T20:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.nnlm.gov\/pnr\/?p=18241"},"modified":"2026-02-03T18:39:29","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T18:39:29","slug":"dataflash-library-carpentry-workshops","status":"archive","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.nnlm.gov\/region_5\/dataflash-library-carpentry-workshops\/","title":{"rendered":"DataFlash: Library Carpentry Workshops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NNLM\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nnlm.gov\/nto\">Training Office<\/a>\u00a0(NTO) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nnlm.gov\/sea\">Southeastern Atlantic Region<\/a>\u00a0(SEA) are pleased to host Library Carpentry workshops this spring and provide professional development funds to support travel to these exciting opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>In this two-day interactive, hands-on workshop you will learn core software and data skills, with lessons including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/librarycarpentry.org\/lc-overview\/\">Introduction to Working with Data<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/librarycarpentry.org\/lc-git\/\">Introduction to Git<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/librarycarpentry.org\/lc-open-refine\/\">OpenRefine<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/librarycarpentry.org\/lc-shell\/\">The Unix Shell<\/a>, and<\/li>\n<li>A brief\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/librarycarpentry.org\/lc-python-intro\/\">Introduction to Python<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Participants may apply to attend the workshop series in either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Baltimore, Maryland \u2013 March 19-20, 2020 or<\/li>\n<li>Salt Lake City, Utah \u2013 March 26-27, 2020<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To broaden access to this exciting training, we invite applications to cover the costs of travel and attendance, up to $1,500 for Baltimore, and $1,200 for Salt Lake City.
