On September 11, FEMA\u00a0announced that federal emergency aid\u00a0has\u00a0been made available\u00a0to the\u00a0state of Oregon<\/strong> to supplement\u00a0state, tribal\u00a0and local response efforts to\u00a0the emergency conditions in the area\u00a0affected by\u00a0wildfires beginning on\u00a0Sept. 8, 2020, and continuing.\u00a0 Per a FEMA press release, \u201cMany Oregonians are suffering right now, whether displaced themselves or worried about loved ones, friends, neighbors, homes, and communities,\u201d said Governor Kate Brown. \u201cWe\u2019re working collaboratively to throw everything we can at this crisis, bringing together local, state, and federal capacity.\u00a0 We are doing everything we can to ensure that our heroic firefighters working around the clock to save lives and homes have the tools, resources, and support they need.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Washington state, <\/strong>major wildfires throughout the state remain active. \u00a0As to Idaho<\/strong>, though a handful of mostly small wildfires are burning, it is a relatively mild wildfire season so far in the panhandle state.<\/p>\n

The NLM\u2019s Disaster Information Management Research Center (DIMRC) has a comprehensive health information guide on wildfires<\/a> with many resources to assist with response and recovery, including smoke inhalation, burns, safety, cleanup and recovery, and coping.<\/p>\n
