To help you prepare, we\u2019re sharing early information about the funding opportunities and timeline before publishing the Request for Applications (RFA).<\/p>\n<h1>Funding opportunities will include:<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Technology Equity Awards<\/strong>, 6 awards, up to $5,000 each\n<ul>\n<li>Designed to support infrastructure that improves equitable access to biomedical and health information<\/li>\n<li>Example of a similar, previously funded project: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/funding\/projects\/232\">Technology Improvement Award: Springfield Public Library Accessibility Station<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Collection Equity Awards<\/strong>, 7 awards, up to $1,500 each\n<ul>\n<li>Designed to support collection development that amplifies diverse voices writing on health\/medical topics<\/li>\n<li>Tip: The bibliographies from previously funded Collection Equity Awards were compiled to create the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/nnlm-reading-club\/diverse-voices-collection\">Diverse Voices in Health &amp; Medicine Collections Toolkit<\/a>. This is a good starting point for locating materials for this funding opportunity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Timeline:<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>November 30, 2022<\/strong>: the Request for Applications (RFAs) for Region 5 awards is published on nnlm.gov\/funding with complete instructions for applying<\/li>\n<li>On or before <strong>January 24, 2023, 5:00pm Pacific<\/strong>: send an email to the Region 5 office (<a href=\"mailto:nnlm@uw.edu\">nnlm@uw.edu<\/a>) stating your intent to apply. Note: Region 5 welcomes applications from the same organization for both types of awards. However, Region 5 cannot fund more than one award per organization.<\/li>\n<li><strong>February 21, 2023, 5:00pm Pacific<\/strong>: application deadline<\/li>\n<li><strong>May 2023<\/strong>: funded projects begin<\/li>\n<li><strong>April 2024<\/strong>: funded projects are complete<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h1>Get ready to apply:<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>Is your library or organization a member of the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Region 5? Membership is required before applying. Members are listed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/membership\/directory?combine=&amp;region_8%5B5%5D=5&amp;city=&amp;postal_code=\">NNLM Membership Directory<\/a>. If your organization is not listed, fill out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/membership\/join\">membership form<\/a> (membership is free). Contact Emily Hamstra (<a href=\"mailto:ehamstra@uw.edu\">ehamstra@uw.edu<\/a>) with questions about membership.<\/li>\n<li>Locate your library or organization\u2019s Tax ID Number (TIN) and Unique Entity Identification (UEI) number. If you do not have a UEI number, the process is used to validate your organization&#8217;s legal name and address.\n<ul>\n<li>To set up a Unique Entity Identification (UEI), go to <a href=\"https:\/\/sam.gov\/content\/entity-registration\">SAM.gov\/content\/entity-registration<\/a> and follow the steps to &#8220;Get a Unique Entity ID.&#8221; (Ignore the steps for Entity Registration.
