Membership is <em>free<\/em> and allows your library to apply for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/funding\">funding opportunities<\/a> for health information-related programs, projects, or professional development. Funding is provided by the NNLM Regions, and funding opportunities vary by Region. Contact your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/about\/regions\">NNLM Region<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<h1>Free Classes and Webinars<\/h1>\n<p>NNLM\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/training\">classes and webinars<\/a>\u00a0are free and open to all. Registration is required to attend, and you will need to <a href=\"https:\/\/news.nnlm.gov\/region_5\/consumer-health-minute-creating-an-nnlm-user-account\/\">create a user account<\/a> to register (if you don&#8217;t already have one).<\/p>\n<p>Most NNLM classes and webinars are recorded, and recordings are posted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@NnlmGov\">NNLM&#8217;s YouTube Channel<\/a> within a few weeks after the live webinar. Additionally, we offer many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/training\/schedule?combine=&amp;class_format_133=2\">classes that you can take at your own pace<\/a>. The NNLM offers many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/training\/schedule?combine=&amp;ce_categories_121%5B%5D=3&amp;ce_categories_121%5B%5D=4&amp;ce_categories_121%5B%5D=7&amp;ce_categories_121%5B%5D=9&amp;class_format_133=All\">courses that count towards the specialization requirements<\/a> for specializations from the Medical Library Association. If you are interested in earning your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/guides\/consumer-health-information-specialization\">Consumer Health Information Specialization<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/guides\/data-services-specialization\">Data Services Specialization<\/a> from the Medical Library Association, your NNLM Region will pay for your specialization fees (U.S. only).<\/p>\n<p>The NNLM offers webinars on health topics. In March 2024, we\u2019re hosting an Environmental Health Webinar series featuring expert speakers. Watch the NNLM.gov website for registration information.<\/p>\n<p>Looking for training opportunities for your library patrons? The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/allofus.nnlm.gov\/\">NNLM<em> All of Us<\/em> Program Center<\/a> offers training on <a href=\"https:\/\/allofus.nnlm.gov\/resources\/resources-by-topic\/digital-literacy\">digital literacy skills<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h1>Health Information Resources &amp; Guides<\/h1>\n<p>The NNLM promotes <a href=\"https:\/\/eresources.nlm.nih.gov\/nlm_eresources\">resources available from the National Library of Medicine<\/a>, all of which are free to access:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/\"><strong>PubMed<\/strong><\/a> is an index of more than 36 million article and book citations in biomedical and life sciences. Some PubMed citations include links to free full-text articles from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/\">PubMed Central<\/a> and publisher websites. Access to some articles may be subject to your library&#8217;s journal subscriptions. The PubMed index is updated daily.<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/medlineplus.gov\/\">MedlinePlus<\/a><\/strong> provides the public with authoritative and up-to-date information on health and wellness, diseases, drugs and supplements, and more. MedlinePlus is available in English and <a href=\"https:\/\/medlineplus.gov\/spanish\/\">Spanish<\/a>, with some resources available in <a href=\"https:\/\/medlineplus.gov\/languages\/languages.html\">other languages<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nlm.nih.gov\/hmd\/index.html\">History of Medicine<\/a><\/strong> division of the National Library of Medicine provides access to <a href=\"https:\/\/collections.nlm.nih.gov\/\">digital collections<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nlm.nih.gov\/hmd\/about\/exhibition\/index.html\">online exhibits<\/a> including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nlm.nih.gov\/nativevoices\/traveling\/index.html\">Native Voices: native peoples&#8217; concepts of health and illness<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nlm.nih.gov\/hmd\/get-involved\/hostexhibitions.html\">Traveling Exhibits<\/a> program.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>NNLM\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/guides\">Guides<\/a> provide recommended health information and research resources for a variety of groups such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/guides\/resources-hospitalhealth-sciences-libraries\">Health Sciences Libraries<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/public-libraries\/getting-started\">Public Libraries.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The NNLM&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/reading-club\">Reading Club<\/a> encourages libraries to host book discussions on book featuring health topics, with recommended book titles accompanied by a discussion guide and related health information resources.<\/p>\n<p>Bibliographies of books on health topics, reflecting diverse communities served by libraries in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/about\/regions\/region5\">NNLM Region 5<\/a>, are listed in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/reading-club\/diverse-voices-collection\">Diverse Voices in Health &amp; Medicine Collections Toolkit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h1>Learn more<\/h1>\n<p>Are you interested in connecting with the NNLM, and aren&#8217;t sure where to start?
