Many of\u00a0you are presenting or attending the conference since it is a little closer to home. Region 5 coordinators, Carolann and Carolyn,\u00a0 are attending and hoping to view as many of your posters and attend your sessions in the short time we\u2019re there. It is exciting to see so many of you representing your libraries at this conference. There are too many to list in this blog post but if you are attending we encourage you to check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/site.pheedloop.com\/event\/mla24\/schedule\">conference schedule<\/a> and support your regional colleagues. We have a great representation at MLA \u201924! Additionally, staff from across NNLM have sessions and posters at the conference and the National Library of Medicine also has several sessions.<\/p>\n<p>From Region 5 we have:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bringing Research to Practice! MLA RTI Poster Session,<\/strong> May 20 1:35 \u2013 2:55 p.m. PT<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The sessions features fast paced and engaging \u201cignite\u201d talks by the Research Training Institute (RTI) fellows about their research projects. Region 5\u2019s Carolann Curry&#8217;s presentation is titled, &#8220;Population Health Resources and Services in Medical Libraries&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Poster Sessions,<\/strong> May 20 from 4:30 \u2013 6:00 p.m. PT<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201c<em>Laboring with Hope\u201d to Improve Maternal Health Disparities<\/em>, about NNLM Region 5\u2019s offering members an opportunity to host a free viewing of the documentary,\u00a0Laboring with Hope, in their communities, Emily Hamstra and Carolyn Martin, poster #90.<\/li>\n<li><em>Developing a Pathway to MLA Consumer Health Information Specialization<\/em>, about NNLM creating 5 on-demand modules that cover each of the five essential competencies required for obtaining the Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS) Level 1, NNLM staff including from Region 5, poster #32.<\/li>\n<li><em>Addressing Health Misinformation: Evidence-Based Strategies and Community Engagement at a Virtual Symposium<\/em>, about NNLM\u2019s virtual symposium that provided attendees information on how to distinguish between types of misinformation, describe current research, identify resources and tools to combat misinformation, and to explore programs, projects, and practices related to health misinformation in communities, NNLM staff including from Region 5, poster #101.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>National Library of Medicine (NLM) sessions include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>AI Summit: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Saturday, May 18, 1:00-6:00 p.m. PT<br \/>\nThis AI Summit aims to equip library and health information professionals with the understanding required to meet the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence across all areas of their work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>NLM Update:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tuesday, May 21, 10:30-11:45 a.m. PT<br \/>\nThe update will include presentations by NLM Director for the User Services and Collection Division (USCD) Dianne Babski and NNLM Project Director Martha Meacham.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Technical Showcases:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Enabling Discovery of Biomedical Research Data: Introducing the Dataset Catalog, Tuesday, May 21, 9:15-9:45 a.m. PT<\/li>\n<li>PubMed and PubMed Central Update (PMC), Tuesday, May 21, 11:30-12:00 p.m. PT<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Immersion Session: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating Interdisciplinary Interest in the <em>All of Us<\/em> Researcher Workbench Across Campus Communities, Tuesday, May 21, 1:30-2:45 p.m. PT<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More details about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nlm.nih.gov\/pubs\/techbull\/ma24\/ma24_NLM_at_MLA.html\">NLM\u2019s presence at MLA<\/a> is available in the Technical Bulletin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Medical Library Association\u2019s annual conference is being held in Portland, OR this year.
