Medical librarians perform an essential role in providing critical and accurate medical information to healthcare professionals, the healthcare industry, and for patients. Unfortunately, their work is often overlooked and goes unacknowledged. But National Medical Librarians month is an opportunity to highlight their fundamental role and celebrate their contributions in healthcare.<\/p>\n
The Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Region 5 recognizes how important it is to\u00a0 have medical librarians and librarians who provide health information to patients and the public. NNLM supports the work of medical librarians with freely available training of National Library of Medicine resources, webinars with experts in the field to help bring awareness and knowledge to the job, and provides funding for health-related projects.<\/p>\n
During National Medical Librarians Month, we will be featuring guest posts by some of our Region 5 medical librarians. In their own words they will share their journey, highlights from their careers, reflect on changes in the profession, and encourage others to consider becoming medical librarians.
