The theme is Prevention and Wellness Across the Life Span.<\/p>\n<p>Applications are now being accepted.\u00a0 The deadline for application is Friday July 27, 2012, 5pm EST.\u00a0 For more information and an application form, go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.phha.mlanet.org\/blog\/2012\/sewell-stipend-2012\/\">http:\/\/www.phha.mlanet.org\/blog\/2012\/sewell-stipend-2012\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>For more information on the 2012 APHA meeting see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apha.org\/meetings\/highlights\/\">http:\/\/www.apha.org\/meetings\/highlights<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the Sewell Fund, see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sewellfund.org\/\">http:\/\/www.sewellfund.org\/<\/a> .<\/p>\n<p>The mission of the Fund is to increase librarians\u2019 identification with medical and health care professionals.\u00a0 Stipends have been awarded annually since 2001.\u00a0 Past participants testify to the value of attending APHA:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cConnecting with my fellow library and information professionals and public health colleagues was energizing\u2026The spirit of true collaboration shone through the programs.\u201d\u00a0 (Feili Tu)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cMany of the things I learned were not specific, as in tangible facts, more of an understanding of what Public Health is. I learned it covers just about everything\u2026for Public Health you need to be knowledgeable about the issues, the potential impact of legislation, and knowledgeable about the \u2018agendas\u2019 of the interested parties\u2026\u201d (Kristin Kroger)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cOverall the conference really helped me to better understand the scope of public health as well as the latest development in the areas of public health that I am most likely to have to deal with as a librarian\u2026.It was an incredible learning experience.\u201d (Manju Tanwar)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cThe fact that I\u2019m working on a Masters in Public Health was very interesting to her (public health colleague) because she didn\u2019t realize that some librarians also have another graduate degree.
