Why is World AIDS Day important? An estimated 38 million live with the virus, and more than 35 million have died of HIV\/AIDS. People with HIV can expect to live a long and healthy life. We have tools to stop HIV transmission. Unfortunately, HIV continues to be stigmatized and misunderstood.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s theme <strong>Rock the Ribbon<\/strong> calls forth the iconic red ribbon, an enduring symbol of support for those affected by HIV and AIDS. The National Library of Medicine (NLM), NIH, HHS, and the CDC have a wide variety of materials and resources to help raise awareness and combat stigma in your communities.
