Find your crew at your library\u2019s author talks, workshops, and book clubs.<\/p>\n<p>No matter where you find yourself on the roadmap through life\u2019s journey\u2014preparing for a new career, launching a business, or raising a family\u2014your library provides an inclusive and supportive community where everyone belongs.<\/p>\n<p>Get ready to explore, become inspired, and connect with your library this National Library Week. Libraries are there for you, all the way to the finish line. National Library Week 2024 will be celebrated Sunday, April 7th through Saturday, April 13th.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Monday, April 8: <a href=\"https:\/\/uniteagainstbookbans.org\/right-to-read-day\/\">Right to Read Day<\/a>\u00a0is a National Day of Action in support of the right to read. The State of America&#8217;s Libraries Report is released, including Top Ten Most Challenged Books of 2023.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Book Resumes<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/bookresumes.uniteagainstbookbans.org\/\">https:\/\/bookresumes.uniteagainstbookbans.org\/<\/a><br \/>\nBook Resumes help teachers, librarians, parents, and community members defend books from censorship. They detail each title\u2019s significance and educational value and are easy to share with administrators, book review committees, elected officials, and board members. Books that provide health information are among the most commonly challenged books in libraries. Book resumes were developed by Unite Against Book Bans which is an initiative of the American Library Association, a 501(c)(3) organization, and does not support or endorse candidates for political office.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Diverse Voices in Health &amp; Medicine Collections<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/reading-club\/diverse-voices-collection\">https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/reading-club\/diverse-voices-collection<\/a><br \/>\nThe Diverse Voices in Health &amp; Medicine Collections project was borne of the Collection Equity Award funding opportunity offered by the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Region 5, which serves the states of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, California, and Hawaii along with the U.S. Territories and Freely Associated States in the Pacific. The Diverse Voices in Health &amp; Medicine Collections toolkits capture relevant bibliographic information for more than 1,900 unique resources purchased by Collection Equity Award recipients. Each state in NNLM Region 5 is represented, as are myriad genres and formats.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Consumer Health Collection Management &#8211; On demand<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/training\/class-catalog\/consumer-health-collection-management-demand\">https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/training\/class-catalog\/consumer-health-collection-management-demand<\/a><br \/>\nThis 4 credit-hour, on-demand class reviews collection management principles and resources for health-related collections in public libraries. Watch a recorded presentation and complete 2 assignments to evaluate your own library&#8217;s health collection, and consider how you can improve your health related materials to better serve your community. Includes a downloadable list of health information resources in .html and .docx format to customize for your library.
