It\u2019s May and time for The Medical Library Association\u2019s annual conference being held in Portland, OR this year. Linda Walton and Erica Lake\u00a0from Region 6 will be at the conference and hope to attend your sessions and view your posters. We always look forward to seeing the impact Region 6 members have on the profession. If you are attending, we encourage you to check out the\u00a0conference schedule<\/a>\u00a0and support your regional colleagues. We have a great representation at MLA \u201924!\u00a0 Additionally, staff from across NNLM have sessions and posters at the conference and the National Library of Medicine also has several sessions.<\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Monday, May 20 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
\nD<\/strong>eveloping a Pathway to MLA Consumer Health Information Specialization<\/em><\/strong>,<\/strong> about NNLM creating 5 on-demand modules that cover each of the five essential competencies required for obtaining the Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS) Level 1. Presented by NNLM staff including Bobbi Newman from Region 6. \u00a0See poster #32.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Addressing Health Misinformation: Evidence-Based Strategies and Community Engagement at a Virtual Symposium<\/em><\/strong>, about NNLM\u2019s virtual symposium that provided attendees information on how to distinguish between types of misinformation, describe current research, identify resources and tools to combat misinformation, and to explore programs, projects, and practices related to health misinformation in communities. Presented by NNLM staff including Bobbi Newman and Miles Dietz-Castel from Region 6. See poster #101.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Value of Advisory Groups<\/em><\/strong>, <\/strong>about determining if interdisciplinary state Advisory Groups would improve our impact by focusing on locally determined health information needs for seven states. Presented by Region 6 staff, Nora Barnett, Erica Lake, Darlene Kaskie, Bobbi Newman, Miles Dietz-Castel, Jacqueline Leskovec, and Linda Walton. See poster #112.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Teaching Telehealth to Libraries<\/b><\/em>, about the creation of training and resources to support libraries with telehealth. Presented by NNLM Telehealth Interest Group including Darlene Kaskie from Region 6. See poster # 114.<\/b><\/p>\n

\nThis AI Summit aims to equip library and health information professionals with the understanding required to meet the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence across all areas of their work.<\/p>\n
