The Fourth of July, is upon us! This holiday celebrates the independence and freedom of the United States from Britain. Traditionally vibrant displays of fireworks can be seen across the country. It is important during these festivities to practice fire safety.

Fireworks are a central part of Fourth of July celebrations, yet they can be dangerous if mishandled or used improperly. Every year, thousands of injuries occur due to fireworks accidents, thankfully many of these incidents can be prevented with caution and awareness. It is essential to purchase fireworks from licensed vendors, follow the instructions carefully, and use them in designated areas away from flammable materials such as dry grass, trees, or buildings.

Beyond fireworks, barbecues and outdoor cooking are common during Fourth of July celebrations. Cooking is a primary cause of domestic fires. It is important for grills to be placed far away from buildings or other structures and to be supervised at all times (while in use).
