As we move into August, it’s amazing to reflect on how quickly the summer is going! While there’s still have a whole month left before fall, I thought it would be a great chance to review the books from the NNLM Reading Club .
NNLM Reading Club Announces June Theme: Bringing Awareness to Memory and Dementia
In recognition of Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month in June, the NNLM Reading Club brought awareness to Memory and Dementia featuring three new books.
My Father’s Brain by Sandeep Jauhar
The Swimmers by Julie Otsuka
Remember by Lisa Genova
NNLM Reading Club Announces July Theme: Water
We interact with water in many ways, from drinking water, recreational activities, to weather and water management. We are pleased to be featuring three books that align with this topic so broadly.
Go as a River: A Novel by Shelley Read
Why We Swim by Bonnie Tsui
Superman’s Not Coming: Our National Water Crisis and What We the People Can Do About It by Erin Brockovich
We also had some additional titles to recommend in July
What the Eyes Don’t See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance, and Hope in an American City by Mona Hanna-Attisha
The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese
NNLM Reading Club Announces August theme:
Ears and Hearing!
The chance for hearing loss increases as you age. One-third of persons ages 65 to 74 and one-half of persons aged 75 and older experience hearing loss. If you are an adult and notice a problem, get checked by an audiologist who may recommend treatment and services to restore or assist with hearing loss.
We are pleased to be featuring three new books this month:
Mom Dad Not Hear by Mickey Carolan
The Butterfly Cage by Rachel Zemach
True Biz by Sara Nović
Previous books related to Ears and Hearing:
Haben by Haben Girma
El Deafo by Cece Bell (scroll down the page for the discussion guide)
All of these books recommendations (and more can be found Here) what a great resource for your Summer Reading needs!
