From February 1, 2024 &#8211; April 30, 2024, we will discuss\u00a0<em>A History of Medical Libraries and Medical Librarianship in the United States: From John Shaw Billings to the Digital Era<\/em> by Michael Kronenfeld and Jennie Jacobs Kronenfeld.<\/p>\n<p><i>A History of Medical Libraries and Librarianship in the United States: From John Shaw Billings to the Digital Era<\/i>\u00a0presents a history of the profession from the beginnings of the Army Surgeon General\u2019s Library in 1836 to today\u2019s era of the digital health sciences library. The purpose of this book is not only to make this history available to the profession\u2019s practitioners, but also to provide context as medical librarians and libraries enter a new age in their history as the digital information environment has undercut the medical library\u2019s previous role as the depository of the print based KBI\/information base.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nnlm.gov\/training\/class\/nnlm-book-discussion-feb-1-2024-apr-30-2024-history-medical-libraries-and-medical\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Please register here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After acquiring the book in your preferred format, you can join us any time between February 1, 2024 &#8211; April 30, 2024 to participate.
