An NN/LM Disaster Communication Summit will be held in Chicago on March 7-8, 2013. The Summit is being co-sponsored by the Greater Midwest and MidContinental Regions and the National Emergency Preparedness & Response plan of the NN/LM. Registration preference will be given to members from the Greater Midwest and MidContinental regions.
This unique one and a half day summit will feature:
* Speakers from libraries and the emergency planning community on roles libraries/librarians can play before, during, and after a disaster, with emphasis on communication strategies
* The MLA CE class: “U.S. Response to Disasters and Public Health Emergencies” which is one of the required courses for the new MLA Disaster Information Specialization
* A hands-on workshop with take-away tools for improving your library’s readiness, including a one-page service continuity plan
* Opportunities to network with librarians, community emergency planners, and representatives from the NLM Disaster Information Management Research Center (DIMRC)
