September is Disaster Preparedness Month, and NNLM is marking the occasion with a month of free virtual learning opportunities designed to help libraries and their communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters.

Throughout September, our Disaster Preparedness Month webinar series will bring together expert presenters to explore practical strategies, resources, and emerging perspectives on disaster readiness. Sessions will address topics ranging from severe weather education and community engagement to extreme heat, trusted intermediaries, and frameworks for strengthening library disaster response.

This year’s lineup includes:

• September 18: Severe Weather Engagement: A New Resource from The Healing Library
• September 22: Heat, Health, and Disasters: The Role of Libraries
• September 23: Ready NOW: A Framework for Disaster Response in Libraries
• September 24: What the Thermometer Misses: Heat Risk Perception and Trusted Intermediaries

All sessions are free and virtual, and participants can earn MLA and/or CHES continuing education credit.

Disasters can take many forms, but preparation can make a meaningful difference in how libraries support their staff, patrons, and communities when emergencies occur.
