Library and information workers know that a ‘reference interview’ is conversation between library worker and a library user, usually at a reference desk, in which the library worker responds to the user’s question. But what if the question is medical or health-related that may affect someone’s life? Introduction to Health Reference: Ethics and Best Practices provides basic background knowledge and communication techniques that will improve your ability to answer medical or health related questions confidently and ethically at your library.

This class takes about 4 hours to complete and qualifies for 4 continuing education credit hours from the Medical Library Association, including Consumer Health Information Specialization, levels 1 and 2. This class is ‘on demand,’ meaning you can complete it on your own time, at your own pace.
