Bioinformatics and Biology Essentials for Librarians Course

Posted in: #CC/Academic List, Partners Sharing Information, Public Libraries, Webinars and Training

Learn about bioinformatics, the data science of biology! The Network of the National Library of Medicine is pleased to open registration for the twelfth cohort of Bioinformatics and Biology Essentials for Librarians: Databases, Tools, and Clinical Applications.

This 15-week, 30 credit hour, self-paced online class reviews basic biology concepts and provides hands-on experience with National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) molecular biology databases. This class is designed for librarians who offer, or intend to offer, bioinformatics services; and also for librarians who use gene and protein information to serve their patrons. Expect to spend at least 30 hours working through this class.

Subject matter experts for this course include staff scientists from NCBI, Majda Valjavec-Gratian, PhD, and Wayne Matten, PhD.

Please direct any questions to nto@utah.edu.
