Outreach and Engagement Librarian (Open Rank)
The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center (HSLIC) seeks a collaborative and enthusiastic individual who can communicate across cultures, build collaborative partnerships, and work as a team member in a fast-paced organization to improve the health of New Mexicans through evidence-based information expertise. HSLIC is New Mexico’s only publicly accessible academic health sciences library, and, as such, it has a responsibility to our community to work to improve the availability, accessibility, and understanding of health information needs throughout our state. HSLIC has a long history of providing outreach across our state, including to our 24 federally recognized Native Nations. This position will take a leadership role in revitalizing and strengthening our efforts, including promoting and growing HSLIC’s Native Health Database https://nativehealthdatabase.net/ , an important resource for Native American health information.
To build a sustainable community engagement and outreach program, this individual will work collaboratively with UNM Health Sciences Center faculty and staff, HSLIC faculty and staff, and community partners. In-person relationships remain a cornerstone of community engagement in New Mexico, and thus, this position will entail periodic travel. We want to emphasize that the preferred qualifications are not required and that we are committed to helping our future colleague develop these preferred skills. This is a full-time, benefits eligible faculty position with a primary appointment in HSLIC. The UNM provides a diversified package of benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
