The Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Region 4 is thrilled to announce that Ruby Nugent has been awarded a professional development award to attend the 4th Joint Conference of Librarians of Color (JCLC). The conference, providing programming and networking opportunities to address issues affecting libraries and communities of color, will be in St. Pete Beach, Florida, October 2022.
Ms. Nugent is a Biomedical Research Librarian at National Jewish Health in Denver, Colorado. The goals and objectives for attending this conference were articulated in her application:
“As a Latinx hospital librarian, I have a strong commitment to providing resources and access of health information to BIPOC communities and supporting clinicians and researchers in the collection and distribution of scholarship. The Joint Conference of Librarians of Color provides an opportunity for me to network and collaborate with other BIPOC colleagues and peers from a wide variety of library backgrounds, experiences, and geographic locations in a unique professional environment.”

NNLM offers funding for projects that improve access to health information, increase engagement with research and data, expand professional knowledge, and promote awareness and use of National Library of Medicine resources in local communities.
