What’s Next for NNLM Region 5

Hello, Region 5!

I am writing to share some exciting news from the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Region 5, which is a very welcome change after nearly a year of uncertainty regarding the future of our program: 

• The cooperative agreement that funds the NNLM was originally due to end on April 30, 2026. 

• We (along with the rest of the NNLM) have secured additional funding in the form of an administrative supplement from the National Institutes of Health/ National Library of Medicine, which will allow us to continue our program through April 30, 2027. 

• During this funded extension period, Region 5 will be working to provide training, outreach, and funding to our members, albeit with a reduced staff. 

Be sure to follow us on social media and subscribe to the Weekly Digest, if you don’t already. We will be sharing additional updates and opportunities through these channels over the coming months. 

As far as the future of the Region 5 program after April 30, 2027:

• We are still awaiting the release of the Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) that will permit us to apply for the next cooperative agreement; we anticipate this will be released in August/September 2026.
