Consumer Health Minute: Kids Environment Kids Health

Climate change affects not only the planet but also our health. It’s in the news, social media, on TV and film, in books and might be a topic that kids want to know more about.

Your library may have kids seeking or asking for environmental health information for a school project or just for their own interest or perhaps you have a parent who wants to help their kids to understand climate change, how it affects them, and what they can do to help.

Kids Environment Kids Health is NIH National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) educational resource for not just kids but for parents and educators. Environmental Health A to Z resources from the NIH NIEHS

Activities, information, and lesson plans are geared for younger kids as well as teens and include brainteasers, puzzles, songs, science experiments, and more fun and engaging ways to learn about environmental health.

Topics provide information on a variety of environmental issues to better understand some include ways to help.

Lesson plans include either NIEHS material or links to authoritative agencies and organizations to provide quality supplemental materials to enhance teachers’ lesson plans as well as helpful to supplement a student’s own learning.

These resources can be highlighted at your library, at your school, or organization. No matter your age, these resources can be a more accessible way for anyone to learn more about the environment and its relation to health.
