Funding Available for Technology, Collection Development, and Professional Development

Announcement for funding opportunities from Region 5 of the Network of the National Library of Medicine with illustration of a person with a megaphone surrounded by dollar signsToday, the NNLM Region 5 opened three new funding opportunities for member organizations in the region. Funded awards improve access to health information, furthering the mission of the NNLM.

Pending budget availability, upcoming awards for the May 1, 2025- April 30, 2026 funding period include:

Technology Improvement Award, to increase access to technology. 2 Awards, $5,000 each

Collection Improvement Award, to support library collection development of health materials for diverse communities. Applications from public libraries, community-based organizations, and organizations with limited collections budgets will be prioritized. 4 awards, $1,500 each

Timeline:

  • February 18, 2025: Letters of Intent due for Technology Improvement and Collection Improvement Awards
  • April 2, 2025: Applications due
  • June 2, 2025: Funded projects begin
  • April 30, 2026: Final reports due for funded projects

Professional Development Award, to provide continued learning opportunities on health information and research. Applications for this award will be accepted on an ongoing basis beginning May 1, 2025, until funding is expended. A request for applications will be available in the spring of 2025.
