Fantastic Y3 Funded Projects and Y4 Opportunities

Posted by on December 20th, 2023 Posted in: Funding

The end of the year is a great time to take stock of accomplishments. Region 5 is currently in its third year (Y3) of a five year cooperative agreement with the National Library of Medicine.  A key pillar of our program is awarding funding to member organizations that provide access to health information.

In Y3, Region 5 has funded 23 awards to organizations located in seven states and territories in our region. The awards include one Technology Equity project, 16 Collection Equity projects, and four Professional Development awards. In addition, one major subaward was funded for Outreach & Engagement at the Las Vegas Clark County Library District, and continuing funding was provided to the University of Alaska, Anchorage as part of a multiyear consortial agreement. Overall in Y3, six projects were funded at Minority Serving Institutions, and 18 proposals were from first-time NNLM funding applicants.

Region 5 recently announced our funding cycle for Year 4 (Y4), which will include, pending budget availability, up to four Technology Improvement Awards of $5,000 each, and one Outreach & Engagement award of $25,000. The first deadline for potential Y4 funding recipients is February 14, 2024, when Letters of Intent are due. If you are interested in applying for Y4 funding from Region 5, please review this blog post with relevant parameters.

And, stay tuned for further communication in the New Year about the NNLM Showcase, where representatives from all NNLM regions, offices, and centers will highlight successful funded projects. We hope to see you there!
