The Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Region 5 supports library school students and new library professionals in many ways, including advising on University of Washington iSchool student capstone projects like the Resources Supporting DEIA guide, instructing library school classes, hosting an internship for San Jose State University’s BIPOC Become Librarians program, hosting practicums for the National Library of Medicine (NLM) Associate Fellowship Program, providing ongoing free training opportunities, and more. Along the way, we get to hear about the many ways people become interested in library work. It’s always an interesting story!
A recent episode of the NNLM Discovery podcast, Becoming a Medical Librarian, features Region 5’s friend and colleague, Kristi Trop. In the podcast, Kristi shares her path to health sciences librarianship, her work with Region 5 on the Diverse Voices Toolkit, and her experience in the NLM Associate Fellowship Program.
The NNLM Discovery podcast series explores how the NNLM is engaging with communities to provide access to trusted information for the purpose of improving the public’s health. Learn more and listen in: NNLM Discovery.
