Try the Newly Redesigned PubMed

Posted by on October 1st, 2009 Posted in: News from NLM

PubMed has undergone a significant facelift. Try the redesigned version here: http://preview.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed

An NLM Technical Bulletin article details the changes, which include:

  • A more streamlined homepage
  • Elimination of the Limits, Preview/Index, History, and Details tabs (these functions are still available under Advanced Search)
  • Simplified Display options – Brief, Citation, and AbstractPlus views are no longer available, but MeSH headings, LinkOut, and other information can be displayed in Abstract view.

A separate NLM Technical Bulletin article covers LinkOut in the PubMed Redesign.

The PubMed Help files have been updated to reflect the design changes. In addition, NLM has scheduled several thirty minute live webcasts you can attend to see a demonstration and participate in a question and answer session.

The old version of PubMed will continue to be available for two weeks. During this time, the redesigned version will be linked from the PubMed homepage as a preview. When the old version is removed, the redesigned version will exist in its place. You should not need to update any URLs.
