Pride Month Week 2: Providing Quality Care in a Welcoming Environment

Posted by on June 8th, 2022 Posted in: Blog, Consumer Health, General

Safe Space

For LGBTQIA+ persons, lack of knowledgeable healthcare providers, discrimination by health insurers, lack of Federal anti-discrimination laws based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity (SO/GI), and fear of mistreatment are just some of the barriers to culturally appropriate health care. According to HealthyPeople.gov, eliminating health disparities can lead to:

    • Reductions in disease transmission and progression
    • Increased mental and physical well-being
    • Reduced health care costs
    • Increased longevity

This week, we provide some tools for providing quality care in a welcoming environment.
