NNLM Region 6 Subaward Projects for Year 3

NNLM Region 6 is pleased to announce the recipients for subaward funding for Year 3 (May 2023 – April 2024). Each project was awarded $10,000 – $15,000 to fund a project that will help progress the mission of NNLM (to provide U.S. researchers, health professionals, public health workforce, educators, and the public with equal access to biomedical and health information resources and data) in their community.

Apple Of His Eye Inc. – Ohio
“Promotion and Enhanced Engagement of Mental Health Education Programming Offered by NAMI, Southwest Ohio”
Apple of His Eye Inc. will partner with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Southwest Ohio for community-based workshops to educate individuals and families with quality mental health information and resources.

Effingham Public Library – Illinois
“Equitable Access to Telehealth”
The Effingham Public Library will invest in equipment to support telehealth appointments at the library as well as the case management services to connect the community members with vital primary and mental health care access.

Northern Illinois University School of Nursing – Illinois
“Smart Tablet Education for Health Living”
Primary Investigator, Dr. Anitha Saravanan, will direct this project to engage older adults with technology and assist them with finding quality health information.

Respond Now – Illinois
“Connect Now”
This project will create a digital literacy program and lab housed within Respond Now, a South Suburban Cook County homeless service provider. The proposed program will give those with limited access to technology and health information, an equitable chance to improve digital literacy skills for individual health.
