Welcome to the newly configured Region 7. Over the next five years, we will invest staff and time to connect with hospital librarians in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. Region 7 will host annual “Welcome” meetings, and gather input for the development of national webinars that serve the needs of hospital librarians. We will conduct virtual site visits to learn about your workplace and your concerns.
We will engage with Region 7 hospital librarians on listservs, with #medlibs on Twitter, and with our own newsletter. We promote the products and services of the National Library of Medicine. The Network provides training in PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov, genetics databases, and drug information resources. We support the provision of health information to the communities that you serve. We provide DOCLINE assistance and training, and offer information sessions on open access initiatives such as PubMed Central.
The Network is developing training for hospital librarians who are learning to support data access, data management, data analysis and data sharing. Our courses will help you attain the Data Services Specialization certificate from the Medical Library Association.
We encourage you to applying for funding to support health information outreach, technology improvements, or data management projects.
Most importantly, we provide a platform for peer-to-peer sharing. Our webinars and (hopefully) in-person events will include opportunities to learn from hospital librarians in the Northeast area.
To register, please email Margot Malachowski using the link below. This meeting will be recorded, and all registrants will receive a link to the recording. This meeting is a chance for you to meet our staff, and to hear about our plans for a future webinar on cyber security considerations for hospital librarians. If you have any trouble with the registration form, please email Margot Malachowski using the link below.
