Hello! I’m Sean Corning (they/them) and I recently joined Region 7 as an Education and Outreach Coordinator. This is an exciting and change-filled time at the NNLM and I am looking forward to embarking on the important work we do here at Region 7.

I graduated this spring with my MLIS from Simmons University. While at Simmons I conducted research around forming successful collaborations, particularly in library settings. I hope to apply what I learned from this research in my work at the RML. Prior to my time at Simmons, I worked in an academic medicinal chemistry laboratory, where I had experience dealing with biomedical data and using NLM products in a research setting.

My main interests are working with academic libraries, research data management and bioinformatics topics. Research data management is a major focus during this cooperative agreement and I’m excited to work on programming related to RDM.

On a more personal note, I live in the Boston area and have three cats. Two of which are kittens I adopted during the last year, one of which is an older grumpy cat. My hobbies include knitting, cooking and reading.

I’m excited to have joined Region 7 and look forward to working with you!
