Have you been taking classes with the NNLM? As you collect your MLA CE, have you thought about getting your MLA Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS) but weren’t sure?
Did you know NNLM provides sponsorship and free classes towards MLA’s Consumer Health Information Specialization?
CHART YOUR PATH TO CHIS WITH A NEW INTERACTIVE INFOGRAPHIC
Learn more through our new interactive infographic which provides an overview of the program and roadmap to Level 1 certification! https://bit.ly/nnlm-chis
Librarians know the lifesaving and life-enhancing value of accurate evidence-based health information. By earning CHIS, you acquire skills and knowledge needed to become a confident, expert provider of health information to your community. Your CHIS shows employers, colleagues, and the public you serve that you are committed to offering quality consumer health information services and to staying current with developments in consumer health information resources, technologies, and services.
Most NNLM classes and webinars offer CE toward CHIS. You can visit the page below to learn more:

To make the process even easier, we have created CHIS on-demand to acquire credits for Competencies 1-5. You can take all five modules or any one of them to fill in a missing competency.
Once these are covered, you just need 7 more credits to reach the required 12 MLA CEs.
Next, fill out the form to request NNLM sponsorship (Yes! We will pay the fee until our sponsorships are used up). Now is the time. Reach out if you are interested in setting up a time to talk about your CHIS journey. In Region 7 (CT, MA, ME, NH, NY, RI, VT) reach out to bennie.finch@umassmed.edu
