Tags: Annual Report
This is the time of year when NNLM Region 7 team reflects on the projects we have worked on, relationships that we have built, and successes of our partners across the Region. This year is no exception! The annual report is available and it is my pleasure to share some of the accomplishments that stand out:
Funding
Region 7 funded 23 projects across the Region. This includes 9 Health Information Outreach awards, 10 Technology Improvement awards, and 4 Collection Equity awards. An example of a health information outreach project is the Central Massachusetts AHEC’s LGBTQIA+ Health Education and Workforce Development training and an example of a technology award is the Charlotte, VT project to update the library’s website.
Before the projects come to fruition, NNLM Region 7 has a robust peer review process to evaluate proposals. We would like to extend our appreciation to the 31 peer reviewers that gave their time to review proposals, provide feedback, and share their expertise. We can’t thank you enough!
Training
NNLM is an excellent resource for training and professional development. In Region 7, we provide training at the National and Regional level. Classes like ClinicalTrials.gov and Effective Health Communication and Health Literacy attracted more than 550 participants!
In additional to formal trainings, the Region 7 team worked behind the scenes to develop programming for Preparedness Month (September) including a virtual book club using a graphic medicine novel and shared how the Blue Marble Librarians are addressing climate change in their communities in the recent NNLM Social Determinants of Environmental Health webinar series.
Communication
Sharing information and building relationships are what we do best! Region 7 exhibited at conferences, attended professional meetings to connect to our members and made site visits to organizations to learn more about the communities that make-up Region 7. We sent 50 newsletters and posted regularly on our LinkedIn page and Facebook. Over 18,000 people engaged with our newsletter– this is equivalent to filling the arena for a Celtics home game at TD Garden.
One of the more notable projects, was heard in the NNLM Discovery podcast where we share how Region 7 supped the “Outbreak” summer program at the Public Health Museum.
You can view a short video about the story here on the NLM YouTube Channel or listen to the full story here.
It has been an extremely exciting year and we can’t wait to see what the next year brings!
