What is Focused Outreach? And why do we do it?

Through Focused Outreach we bring our resources from the NNLM directly to you! Each year we select a different area in our region to focus our efforts on. Whether it’s building new relationships or nurturing older connections we work with you to discover your community health assets and needs. We have an interview process where we seek to identify key partners, and assess health information use, promote resources, and occasionally provide financial support. This approach is unique to us in Region 7!

Where are we going? How do we decide?

So you might be asking , “How do we choose which areas to Focus on?.”  We choose to focus on areas with lower Network engagement. During this cooperative agreement (2021-2026), we’re specifically focusing on rural areas.

• Year Four, 2024-2025, brings us to (drumroll please!)
  • Rhode Island: Western half of Providence County
  • New York: Chenango, Otsego, Delaware Counties
• Once we secure an interview with you (which can take time as we all have busy schedules to manage and align), we’ll have a 30- minute semi-structured conversation about your communities health,  health information needs, and the health information seeking behaviors of the organization staff and people in the community. This interview allows us to draw a direct connection between what we hear from you to NLM and NNLM resources and services.
