Call for Proposals: Technology Improvement and Community Preparedness Day Awards

We are excited to announce another round of funding from the NN/LM PNR.  We opened two new funding opportunities today: Technology Improvement Awards and Community Preparedness Day Awards. Want to know more? Read on.

Technology Improvement Awards

Technology Improvement Awards support purchase, installation, and/or upgrading of hardware and software to enhance access to health information. Up to three (3) awards of up to $5,000 each are available to NN/LM member organizations in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. The purpose of these awards is to enhance the capacity of a library or organization to offer electronic health information services for health professionals or health consumers.

This funding can be used for:

  • Computer equipment or mobile devices
  • Web-based instructional technology
  • Software for Internet or Web-based transmission of documents
  • Scanning or document imaging equipment
  • Trainings or demonstrations related to a new information service

Applications from libraries and other community-based organizations are welcome.

Consideration of requests for funding will begin on August 12, 2011. Proposals should be submitted using the Technology Improvement Awards Application.

Community Preparedness Day Awards

Community Preparedness Day Awards assist libraries in in becoming active partners in the community’s emergency preparedness, response and recovery planning activities. Up to two (2) awards of up to $5000 each are available to NN/LM member organizations in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. The goals of Community Preparedness Day are to:

  • Encourage, strengthen and/or expand library partnerships with first responders and community emergency management personnel
  • Provide access to emergency management information tools and resources for families or other target populations
  • Integrate and involve libraries in emergency preparedness, response, and recovery planning
  • Promote and publicize the roles libraries, faith, or community organizations can play in emergency preparedness
  • Strengthen and expand medical and public library partnerships

Applications from libraries and other organizations are welcome.
