Welcome to Bobbi Newman, Outreach Librarian for the GMR office!

Bobbi NewmanOur office is pleased to announce that Bobbi Newman has accepted the position of Outreach Librarian for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine Greater Midwest Region’s office. Her start date is July 18th.

Bobbi holds a Masters of Arts in information research and library science and a Masters of Arts in political science. She has received numerous awards for her service and teaching and has been involved in national library initiatives including serving on the National Information Standards Organization committee to develop a Consensus Framework to Support Patron Privacy in Digital Library and Information Systems and the Pew Internet & American Life Project research on Libraries in the Digital Age.

Bobbi also has served as an American Library Association (ALA) Councilor-at-Large, a member of the Office of Information Technology Policy (OITP) Advisory Committee as well as a member of the OITP Digital Literacy Task Force.

Previously, Bobbi has worked as a Digital Branch Manager at Chattahoochee Valley Libraries and the Digital Service Librarian at Missouri River Regional Library. Bobbi is well recognized as a speaker and has presented at numerous library conferences.

On a personal note, Bobbi is an avid knitter, enjoys video games, and is a self described “geek librarian.” Please join us in making her feel welcome!

Darlene Kaskie, M.L.S. is Community Engagement Coordinator for Region 6 of the Network of the National Library of Medicine. She connects communities to training, engagement, and funding to improve access, use, and understanding of health information. Advancing health literacy and digital skills training helps people make informed decisions about their health. She earned her Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS) from the Medical Library Association.
