Welcome Erica Lake to R6 and NNLM!

We are excited to announce that Region 6 has welcomed Erica Lake to our team! Erica is joining us as our new Medical and Academic Library Outreach Coordinator. As the position name implies, Erica will be working to engage with our Academic and Hospital Librarians, as well as SLIS programs and students. Erica will be working remotely for us from Duluth, MN.

Erica LakeErica is an accomplished health sciences librarian with more than 20 years of experience in the field, including 11 years as a hospital librarian with Intermountain Healthcare, eight years as an academic librarian with the Eccles Health Sciences Library, and one and a half years as a Research and Evaluation Specialist with the Essentia Institute of Rural Health. She has presented more than 45 papers and posters at national, regional, and state conferences, including many with current and former NNLM colleagues. Over the years she has received numerous honors and awards, including being named MLA’s 2018 Consumer Health Librarian of the Year.

When she’s not in the office, Erica is usually outdoors running, mountain biking, hiking, or exploring with family and friends. Join us in welcoming her to NNLM!

Derek is a Minnesota native who relocated to Iowa in 2013. His professional experiences include public health, prospect research, competitive intelligence, and outreach librarianship. Derek and his wife reside in Coralville with their daughter and two dogs (mini goldendoodle and mini poodle)!
