April 30^th marks the end of Grant Year 4 in our five-year cooperative agreement. The Region 7 team has reflected on work that we have completed, the relationships that we have built, and the training we have conducted across the region and country, and we are proud of our accomplishments!

Our annual report is available, and I am thrilled to share some of our accomplishments.

Funding

Region 7 funded 25 projects and distributed 46 Citizen Science Kits across the region. This includes 5 Health Information Outreach Awards, 10 Technology Improvement Awards and 10 Collection Improvement Awards. Our Citizen Science Kits were distributed across all 7 states in our region. An example of a Health Information Outreach Award is Grief 101: Improving Grief Literacy in our Community and an example of a Technology Award is Key Technology Upgrades at the Kinderhook Memorial Library.

Before the projects come to fruition, NNLM Region 7 has a robust peer review process to evaluate proposals. We would like to extend our appreciation to the 31 peer reviewers that gave their time to review proposals, provide feedback, and share their expertise. We can’t thank you enough!

Membership

NNLM member organizations are more engaged than ever! Over 200 organizations stepped forward to submit a subaward proposal, partner on a scholarly project or educational program, served on an advisory board, or hosted a NLM Traveling Exhibit.

Over the last year, the Network also conducted our second Membership Survey. The behind-the-scenes work included reviewing member records, identifying the organizational liaison, ensuring an organizational email address and much more.  While this was not glamourous work, it was much needed and contributes to a comprehensive membership directory.

Training

NNLM is an excellent resource for FREE training and FREE professional development. In Region 7, we provide training at the National and Regional level. Classes like Rural Health Resources, DOCLINE Library Groups and FreeShare, and How to Apply for Funding attracted more than 450 participants!

In additional to formal trainings, the Region 7 team worked behind the scenes to develop programming for the Rural Health Webinar Series and Disaster Preparedness Month Program. The team also contributed to the development of an on-demand NIH Public Access Policy for Librarians class and a Healthy Aging class is in development

Looking Ahead

This year has pushed us to embrace new horizons and while we don’t know what next year will bring, we are committed to engaging our members through training and communication around trusted health information.
