We’re excited to share an example of collaborative common metrics development by the Comprehensive Partnerships to Advance Cancer Health Equity (CPACHE) national consortium, in partnership with the National Cancer Institute. The Shared Measures Toolkit was collaboratively developed by two CPACHE evaluator working groups. The Shared Measures are housed in an Outreach Evaluation Toolkit [1] and the Research Education Shared Measures Toolkit [2], both made openly available on Zenodo. You can read more about the development of this project in a recent publication. [3]
NEC Director Kristi Holmes collaborated on the Research Education Shared Measures working group through her role on the Chicago Cancer Health Equity Collaborative (ChicagoCHEC) Planning and Evaluation Core. She describes the value of such efforts, “Common metrics help us standardize program assessment, and they can also serve as a powerful catalyst for community and capacity building through programming, resources, and evaluation best practices for program members.”
The CPACHE Program develops and maintains comprehensive, long-term, and mutually beneficial partnerships between institutions serving underserved health disparity population and underrepresented students and NCI-designated Cancer Centers. The program aims to achieve a stronger national cancer program and address challenges in cancer and cancer disparities research, education, and outreach, as well as their impact on underserved populations.
