The Network of the National Library of Medicine’s focus on public health has led to many new webinars, resource guides and materials for the public health workforce. NNLM is a Designated Provider of classes offering continuing education contact hours for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES and MCHES). NNLM is constantly adding, reviewing and updating resource guides on public health topics and is working on adding more topical guides. The NNLM’s materials page includes pdfs on health and public health topics that can be downloaded and distributed to local constituents.
In addition to these programs, the NNLM continues to support the Public Health Digital Library, a fee-based program that brings evidence based resources to public health departments across the US.
Many NNLM webinars and classes cover current public health topics. Webinars are presented by subject matter experts from the public health community. A selection of classes and learning programs are approved as continuing education contact hours for Certified Health Education Specialists from the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC)
The NNLM also publishes multiple Resource Guides that relate to public health. Resource guides are focused lists of information related to a specific topic. Guides contain accurate, quality websites and often include links to Infographics, handouts and other materials that can be used in your community
Brochures, handouts and other infographics that can be downloaded and/or printed.
The NPHCO’s PHDL is a fee based program open to public health departments in the US. This digital library contains evidence based resources including e-journals, e-books and databases. The PHDL also has a series of training classes for participants to support the use of the library and its resources. For more information, visit the NPHCO website.
