Upcoming Public Health Classes Offered by the NNLM

The Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) is offering classes on 3 Public Health topics in November.  These popular classes, Health Statistics, From Problem to Prevention: Evidence -Based Public Health and Rural Health Resources will include information on how to find and use National Library of Medicine (NLM) and other information resources.   Classes will be held virtually and qualify for CE credit.

Wednesday November 3rd, 1:00 PM EST

This 1 hour webinar focuses on the location, selection, and effective use of statistics relevant to health on the local, state, national, and international levels. The importance and relevance of health statistics in various contexts will be discussed. Participants will have the opportunity to become familiar with the features and scope of several statistics Internet resources through the use of numerous exercises.

Wednesday, November 10th, 2021, 2:00 PM EST

Curious about evidence-based public health (EBPH) but not sure where to start? This class will explain the basics of evidence-based public health (EBPH) and highlight essentials of the EBPH process and highlight essentials of the EBPH process such as identifying the problem, forming a question, searching the literature, and evaluating the intervention.  Class qualifies for 1.0 CHES credits.

This webinar will describe hallmarks of rural America, identify access challenges of living in rural communities, and equip participants with tools to service the health information needs of those living in rural communities. We will explore websites from the National Library of Medicine, U.S. Department of Agriculture Economic Research Service, Rural Health Information Hub and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.  Class qualifies for CHES, CHIS Level 1 credits.
